Financial Specialist (Programme Management and Communications)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Specialist with strong background in financial monitoring and experience of grant management to join our team. This is a permanent and full-time position although part-time hours can be considered.

About the role

The Financial Specialist will join our Fund Operator team who are currently overseeing the implementation of two international funds. You will be responsible for financial monitoring of international projects implemented under a grant scheme managed by Ecorys. You will also have the opportunity to work with our external partners.

You will conduct the assessment of financial progress of the implemented projects, focusing on compliance with eligibility and cost-efficiency rules. You will work closely with project experts to ensure smooth verification process and minimise the risk of frauds or mismanagement of granted funds. You will be required to be able to identify the early warning signs of potential risks and threats, report them to senior staff and work on mitigation measures. You will have day-to-day contact with the grantees (public, private and non-governmental entities) and provide them with guidance and advice.

Working language for this project is English. Due to the nature of the project this role requires some national and international travel for on-the-spot monitoring.

The ideal person

Our ideal candidate can demonstrate the following essential skills and experience:

  • Strong academic credentials up to at least Masters level in a subject relevant to finance, economy or related fields of study;
  • Significant relevant experience in the field of financial analysis and monitoring with strong drive for further development;
  • Proven knowledge of grant mechanism will be an advantage;
  • Strong project management experience, preferably acquired in a consultancy environment;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Knowledge of other European language will be an advantage (from EU zone or EaP);
  • Advanced computer literacy;
  • Confidence with building and maintaining relationships with clients and multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
